Truly Design

Truly Design is an artistic collective formed by four friends who live in Torino, Italy. Mauro149, Rems182, Ninja1 and Mach505 have all known each other since adolescence and have shared a passion for graffiti and street art for over 10 years.  Growing up in Italy they had an incredibly rich history of art from which to draw inspiration, not only in relation to paintings, but also in relation to architecture, interior design and industrial design. Being aware of more subtle and often unconscious pressures, the foursome also recognises the influence of history, literature, religion, regional tradition and cultural identity. And although the Italian graff scene is big, Truly Design feel their major influences come more from French and Spanish productions

Best known for their individual approaches to wall production with a talent for blending different art forms such as stencil, markers and collage, etc, Truly Design believe that pushing the boundaries is fundamental to their work. As a collective, they feel their work has evolved naturally, although this has inevitably been a somewhat tempestuous journey involving confrontation, talking, arguing, abolishing barriers and inventing solutions. Their diversity of skills paired with an eclectic approach meant that the group’s horizons quickly widened from sole artistic production to incorporate illustration, graphic design, logotype design, didactics and other creative applications. Truly Design’s professional growth reached its turning point with the foundation of the graphic studio allowing them to engage in both personal productions and commissioned work. Such is there talent, Truly Design has designed pieces for the likes of Fiat, Budweiser, Nike and Nokia, to name but a few. They have also created a multitude of exhibitions in addition to winning numerous web awards.

In summary, it is clear that Truly Design is a very talented and progressive collective who both perceive and appreciate the full potential of graffiti:  “Graff has become an application which can be converted into something by all sorts of creative minds. It’s the first huge, worldwide mass movement which spontaneously involves an ever-increasing number of kids. Graff can go anywhere… People make money out of it too. It’s all part of the evolution of an incredibly successful artform, even though it gets a little sad it if comes from someone who doesn’t have even the faintest street/graff background… it is, perhaps, the largest artistic movement on earth.”
