N9NE

N9ne has always had a strong interest in urban art and street iconography, and has worked as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator for the past 8 years. Within his work N9ne is drawn towards the character side of graffiti, rather than the more classic letterform pieces. And although N9ne’s productions may be described as urban art, he resists such labelling thereby allowing his creative side free rein: “I don't like to put a name to my style of work as I normally get different results depending on what media I use; I think most people class it as Urban but I do not create it with that thought in mind. I just draw a version of the image that is in my head, sometimes its close, sometimes it not, I think that's just the way it goes.”

In January 2007 N9ne purchased his first tattoo machine and has been successfully working as a tattoo artist ever since. Not only has his previous experience as an illustrator meant his tattoos are of exceptionally high quality, but his experience as a tattoo artist/illustrator has also started to leak into his canvases and influence his work as an artist/illustrator. Such is N9ne’s productivity since January 2007, he feels that he has created more artwork over this period than in his previous 5 years as a freelancer: “The workflow is constant and as such it forces your art to improve, I now find myself enjoying the act of drawing more than at any other point in my life.”

In his spare time N9ne produces personal illustrations and canvasses, and organises live art events in collaboration with the (RE:FRIED) soundsystem. Although N9ne’s client list to long to mention in its totality, his previous clients include: Studio Disney, MTV Pimp My Ride UK, Granada TV, Endamol TV, Sony BMG, Box TV, Make Some Noise Records, and Z008 Festival.
